To Say Good-bye
by
Dorcas Walker

To Say Good-bye is a gripping memoir of a daughter’s love weaved through the six months of personally taking care of her mother as she dies of AIDS that would take Dorcas to the limit physically, emotionally, and mentally and put her own family in danger as she supports her mother’s fight for life. Caught up in events out of her control, her mother battles AIDS from contacting the virus from her husband who had severe hemophilia and died from AIDS due to contaminated clotting factor. Not only is Dorcas faced with the loss of her mother, but she daily has to cope with a son who also has severe hemophilia with frequent internal bleeding episodes. The backlash of the AIDS epidemic that took her parents will also threaten Dorcas and her son.

Readers' comments on To Say Good-bye

- I stayed up until two o’clock in the morning reading your book.  Once I started it I couldn’t quit.  (evangelist wife during a revival)

- I’ve been blind now for years and haven’t read any books until I read yours.  It took me weeks to read it with my machine that magnifies things, but I couldn’t stop until I was finished. (an older blind lady)

- You need to put a warning on the cover of your book.  I started reading your book in my office and I can’t put it down.  (a afternoon phone call from a business man)

- Dorcas your book was the most beautiful tribute given about a mother that I have ever read.  (a man dying of leukemia)

- I couldn’t do anything once I started reading your book.  I even took the phone off the hook so I wouldn’t be disturbed.  I felt like I was living it right with you.
(a lady in my home town)

- I laughed and cried throughout the whole book.  It was wonderful.  You told just how it all happened.  Your mother was such a sweet lady.
(one of the nurses who took care of my mother)
